Traditional drugs for Covid-19 faces bottleneck pressure

PC THOMAS

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his video conference on March 28, said that the AYUSH sector has a long tradition of keeping the nation in the pink of health and its importance has increased manifold in the continual efforts to tackle COVID-19. The Government has set up the Department of AYUSH – which stands for Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy – to utilize and promote these therapies in the field of healthcare.

While Covid-19 looms large, it is commonly seen that no allopathic doctor is supporting or acknowledging the traditional treatments such as Homeopathy, Ayurvedic and so on. Last month, media reported that Homeopathy treatment was given to 42 Corona-infected patients in the Rajastan by physicians of the Homeopathy University of Jaipur, which yielded positive results. There was also another news reported that thousands of homeopaths in the public and private sector are outraged at the state directive restricting them from practising their system of medicine.

Traditional medicine has some features that the allopathic class does not have. Similarly, Allopathy also has its own features that the traditional does not have. Medical Experts believe that in the event of an outbreak of infectious or other serious diseases in the country, all these therapies will work together to tackle the disease effectively in prevention and treatment of cases. It is in this light that the Prime Minister said that traditional therapies could suggest better ways to combat the virus.

While modern medical field has not yet succeeded in developing a timely and effective drug against the coronavirus, there is a growing public demand to use non-allopathic therapies to treat the patients who are found to be Covid-19 positive. In India many people take traditional therapies such as homeopathy or Ayurvade for making themselves immune and fight against the virus.  Many local communities are also taking interest in distributing homeopathic medicines from the source to the public interest for the prevention of disease.   But the Allopathic community or modern science never acknowledges or supports the quality of the drug.

In view of the huge increase in the number of Covid patients in Kerala, the Government of Kerala has decided to appoint non-Allopathic doctors and staff to run the first-aid centers. But no further pursuance has been taken by the government. The reason is said to be due to the opposition from the allopathic medicine sector. The Indian Medical Association (IMA), an organization of allopathic doctors, is strongly opposed to alternative therapies, especially homeopathy.

Immunity drugs in traditional therapies are often demonstrated since they are scientifically based. Government hospitals, medical study facilities and graduate colleges have been set up in all these medical units. The government also pays their employees. Every day thousands of patients approach such hospitals and achieve the results. Yet what is the logic of saying that such treatments cannot be acknowledged even when epidemics are rampant in the country? This discrimination must be ended. The government needs to settle the Cold War between the medical communities and work towards a co-operative treatment plan on a war footing basis.  This article published in Metro Vaartha on 7.8.20- Stay updated with the Best Blog PC Thomas

When will we go back to Normal Life?

PC  THOMAS

When COVID-19 is causing a massive shake-up of our daily lives, a major question that comes up in everyone’s mind today is “When are we going to return to normal life”? We have to find out new keywords to optimize the situation. Even when the Vaccine is experimentally advanced to reach out, it will roughly take about six months to get it injected into our blood.  In any case, when we are ready to immunize ourselves with the vaccine, it would perhaps be hard for all the people to manage the cost of the medicine unless the Government assumes the liability of 135-Crore Indians. The fundamental factor would also reveal to us that for a nation like India, which is densely populated where people are not prepared enough to be restrained, it will be extremely hard to keep up social distancing until we are disciplined enough to  make it a part of our day to day living culture.

In our normal way of thinking, we may presume that we can achieve zero-coronavirus population by conducting tests of every one going from home to home. When the civic administration is searching for Covid patients through the left side, real patients are running away from the right side, and vice versa. Then, what can be done?  Like we have done for Aadhar implementation and Voter id-card exercise, are we able to do a corona test on every resident in a phased manner?

Every resident of this nation should demand a test from the government right now than anything else. Of course, a caution is needed. Two difficult factors still remain: not increasing the testing rates and the government’s denial of community spread. Recovery rates do spiral because that is the natural course during a pandemic. However, we would not find out more new cases unless we test more. Until and unless all citizens are completely tested, what is the answer for these terrible circumstances we have just fallen into?

Already, voices are rising in nations like the USA against the Government's deferral in understanding the seriousness of the issue and now the administration is openly admitting that their framework was not set up to face such a consequence.

In India, we seem to be more interested in trumpeting about what we do in combating the pandemic and showing off the social help we are giving during the lockdown than to confront the situation with earnestness and discipline. In any case, would we say  that we are posing difficult queries  or that we are not prepared to address the enquiry - how long do we need to be in lockdown?

The time has come to settle on hard options, create a middle path with respect to the public. The challenge, when all said than done, is - how would you cause the citizens to make the best decision to follow guidelines when they are not familiar with following civic rules. Considering the gravity of the situation, the main way out is to communicate and conscientize the people about the need to follow the instructions through various governmental agencies to keep themselves safe ceaselessly and consistently. We have to attempt to do the best, and then we will survive! Stay safe! This article published in Metro Vaartha on 3.8.20- Stay updated with the Best Blog PC Thomas

Friendship Day versus Raksha Bhandhan

PC THOMAS

Friendship day coincides with Raksha Bahandhan. International Friendship day is on July 30, but in India, it is celebrated on the first Sunday of August, on the basis that the valuable role a friend plays in life. True friends make up our life more joyful. They give us a feeling of belonging, cause us to feel cherished, never let us feel lonely and promote us to live with a better life and let go of our negative behavior patterns.

Though Friendship Day is intended to promote the role of friend in life, it is misused by the youth, like a Valentine day spirit, making a juvenile romance with many girls, saying that at least two-line-girlfriends are needed to enjoy life. At the same time it is a dangerous fact to understand that “Not a single crow, which has caught on two-line electrical wire, is alive today”!!
Unlike Friendship day, Raksha Bahandhan or Rakhi epitomizes family relationships.  It is celebrated today, the 3rd August, with boundless happiness and passion because it is the bond between brothers and sisters.  There is a deep feeling of love in it.  As we enjoy sacred festivals like Raksha Bahandhan, we should remember that, in reality, they all are meant to remind us of the inner bliss and oneness that are our inherent nature and are the very essence of life. Read more PC Thomas Article

In today's world, where human beings and nature are besieged by problems connected to Covid threat with social distancing, celebrations of such sacred days are in pipe-line pressure, however, they come out even more forcefully through various social media. These celebrations are intended to bring the much-needed message of unconditional love, destroying all enemies and disparities from our live.

Once an old man’s 100 years of Birthday celebrated where he was asked a question – "What is the greatest achievement in your long life"? - "I don’t have any enemies now", he said.  The questioner asked again: "How did, Grand-dad, you achieve this superhuman character,'? In laugh he said, "I did have many, many enemies, but NOW, in this my ripe age, all bastards are dead, I have outlived all of them.”! It is funny, this is not what the quality of having no enemies – instead, while living with the society, we wipe out our enemies and make them friends. This love makes us perfect friendship, because love is the spirit of God.

Seeing a noble action– during the U.S civil war, the then American President Abraham Lincoln was criticized for speaking of generous treatment for the southern revolutionaries. The critic reminded Lincoln that there was a combat going on, the confederates were the enemy, and they should be destroyed. But Lincoln loudly uttered, "I will destroy my enemies by changing them my friends"! This is what the real weapon of killing enemies and making friends with divine love.

The Friends in Friendship-Day and the siblings in Raksha Bhandhan-day are different in nature, on the basis of the above story.  In this dynamic and diverse world, that is changing very fast, friends also change. It is difficult to appraise whether they will be your support strength when you need them.  On the other hand, brothers can be dependable, their love for their Sisters never change.  Their love and affection match with Lincoln’s love and attitude, not with the Old man’s case.

All of us share a love-hate relationship with others in our life. Let us celebrate the Friendship day and promote the maxim that "A friend in need is a friend indeed".  And come to Raksha Bahandhan, it’s time to show some sibling’s unconditional love and bondage in their life.  This article published in Free Press on 2.8.20- Stay updated with the Best Blog PC Thomas

Covid-19: Alarming situation on the employment front!

The employment sector in India is facing the brunt of the global pandemic that is jeopardizing the future of employers and employees. Loss of jobs has aggravated the problem as most employment sectors from lower economic backgrounds.

Due to the coronavirus crisis, millions of Indians have lost their jobs and keep on stressing as the pandemic circumstance in India appears to exacerbate. But, even as rising coronavirus cases and unpredictable lockdowns undermine India's business recuperation rate, the recent official data came into the light on new jobs in July gives another ray of hope.

As per data released by the Centre for Monitoring India Economy (CMIE), there had been further advancement in job situation in July and a further decrease in the joblessness rate. Urban employment openings are also on the rise. While the gain in July has not been any place close to June, however, there has been an improvement in job numbers. The CMIE research organization earlier forecast a fall in the employment rate in July.

In the last weekend July 19, the urban employment rate recuperated to 35.1-percent, which is the   most elevated rate after the maximum fall in April. According to CMIE, the rate had expanded to 34.5-pc in the week ended June 28, but decreased to 33.2-pc in the first week of July. From the past week, more employments are being included in urban India landscape which brings something relief to millions of individuals who are still searching for a job in a fairly lukewarm market. Essential services and service sector jobs have additionally hurled on different job portals like Noukari.com. Because of the sharp ascent in cases, the situation keeps on staying uncertain; most experts anticipate a sharp angular recuperation in employment if the trend continues.

Set aside from the statistics of CMIE, however, it is obvious that a damaging impact on an economy as large as India's caused due to a complete lockdown cannot be overemphasized. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), a leading industry association of India, earlier in April released its finding that 100-million and more Indian Jobs are at risk after COVID-19 lockdown.  Therefore, how the economists and entrepreneurs react the issue on employment is still in the realm of speculation like the forecast of Metrological department – “there is chance of heavy rain and NO rain today”.

Social distancing brought about employment misfortunes, explicitly those Indian society’s lower financial layers. Numerous households terminated domestic help services – basically an unorganized monthly-paying service. Most Indians invested a large amount of time involving in household tasks themselves, making it the most widely practiced lockdown action.

As a matter of fact, these are the nervous times for job hunters amid pandemic, particularly for newbie entrants into the rat tap cage. But not getting a job is not the end of the world.  In the situation of crisis, there still lie many opportunities. Many would not get their dream jobs or big pay-perks straight out of the gate, yet given time, they can rethink themselves and set themselves for a better long term future. This article published in Metro Vaartha on 1.8.20- Stay updated with the Best Blog PC Thomas

Keep mental health while social distancing

The Covid-19 pandemic has radically changed our lives, including our relationships with other people in our communities, our homes and our workplaces. People are feeling depressed or bored.  Some people are challenging flexible management of works keeping social distancing regulations, some are working safely from home, some are in quarantine and some are distracted themselves for not meeting their loved ones. For romantic couples, the isolation  has an adverse impact on them who have been stuck inside together for months and may be getting bored with each other's company. However, social quarantine should not prevent you from keeping up solid, healthy connections or boosting your skill development and mental balance.

In this Covidian social time, it is necessary for you to do each possible extent to keep up your physical fitness and emotional wellbeing.  This, in turn, will assist you with a positive mentality to keep your relations upbeat and solid. But how would we go about it? During social distancing, it is imperative to seek approaches to support your mental well-being. You can do this by keeping your mind involved and finding inventive approaches to keep up your social life.

Social distancing and seclusion can be hazardous unless people work to maintain their connections with others. Even if you are encircled by family members at home, tensions will come up and relationships can be strained. Therefore, it is necessary to nurture relationships outside the home, even if you cannot see them face-to-face.

Social distancing is changing the manner in which we live, yet it does not need to change our companionships, sentimental connections. Whatever be the case in your life, you have to understand that this is a temporary stage, and you will come out of it soon. Hence, rather than getting hindered with depressing thoughts, utilize this time to work on your healthy relationships and build beautiful memories.

During this isolation, anyone can maintain his skill development through reading books, brushing up vocabularies to improve his proficiency and share his knowledge and reflections with his friends which will enhance knowledge of people, society, history and culture. It will also expand your minds, and can also give you a sense of accomplishment during these depressing times.

If you want to experience mental and spiritual peace, put on some music and give meditation a try. Meditation and prayers will also help you reduce stress, boost energy, develop an immune system to combat the virus attack. Choosing any of these activities will give you peace of mind and enable you to do complete justice to your free time. You can also explore many other activities in line with your taste and aptitude.

An honest assessment of these areas in your life needs consideration for your mental health. A helpful spot to assess yourself is to consider the areas of your life where you are feeling depleted. At the point when you begin assessing how you can honour your needs and start to take action in these areas, you begin to build trust with yourself and boost your self- compassion. This article published in Metro Vaartha on 31.7.20- Stay updated with the Best Blog PC Thomas
